In the logistics sector, the \u201cgreen\u201d mentality has also taken hold, moving ever closer towards a sustainable business ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the United Nations has already warned in its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emissions accelerate climate change, emissions are the main accelerators of climate change. Therefore, if we do not neutralise our industries in time, through decarbonisation measures, it will be too late for the planet and its inhabitants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has reported that the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere broke its record as early as 2019, leaving CO2 levels at the same level as more than 3 billion years ago, when the Earth's thermometer was 3 degrees higher and sea levels were 20 metres higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And the carbon footprint hasn't stopped increasing, like a contagious disease that threatens to destroy our home, multiplying by 11 since 1961. A figure that, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.footprintnetwork.org\/\">Global Footprint Network<\/a>, accounts for 60% of the environmental impact caused by humans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What is the carbon footprint for ISL<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For our company, measuring our carbon footprint is a key tool for achieving environmental neutrality. Because to control something, it is essential to measure it beforehand to establish a starting point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The carbon footprint refers to the trail of greenhouse gases (GHGs) left by human activities. This indicator measures the direct and indirect emissions of key compounds such as hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), perfluorocarbons (PFCs), sulphur hexafluoride (SF6), and, above all, the well-known carbon dioxide (CO2). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Companies, just like individuals, have different options for reducing or offsetting their carbon footprint. We explain how it's possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How to achieve environmental neutrality with 7 actions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Next, we will set out ten sustainable actions that we can all take to achieve sustainability. Just like people, entities carry out activities that produce greenhouse gases. To combat this, companies can reduce them or offset them with the following actions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Consume renewable energy<\/strong> Contracting energy from 100% renewable sources% or generating our own green energy with, for example, solar panels, is a key solution for minimising environmental impact.<\/li><li><strong>Carry out awareness campaigns<\/strong>Training is essential to convey to the company's staff the importance of achieving environmental neutrality. Their small actions, in sum, can make a big difference. \u00a0<\/li><li><strong>Improved energy efficiency:<\/strong> Replacing traditional light bulbs with low-energy ones or choosing energy-efficient appliances and systems are some ways to achieve this goal<\/li><li><strong>Investing in environmental projects<\/strong> One way of bringing our company closer to environmental neutrality is by investing in projects such as reforestation. In this instance, we can take the opportunity to involve our staff in these initiatives and have them be a part of them.<\/li><li><strong>Choosing committed suppliers: <\/strong>Another key to creating a business community aligned with sustainability goals is to choose suppliers, who implement their own environmental strategies.<\/li><li><strong>Incentivising recycling <\/strong>One of the strategies is to introduce recycling within the company itself, with the implementation of bins for each type of waste within the offices. Because carrying out responsible waste management and disposal is essential to achieve a neutral company.<\/li><li><strong>Calculate carbon footprint \u00a0<\/strong>And, of course, calculate the carbon footprint. Since establishing a baseline is essential for setting decarbonisation targets for the present and the future.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Lean &amp; Green Programme: the key to being a sustainable company<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aecoc.es\/servicios\/leangreen-espana\/\">Lean &amp; Green<\/a> It is the well-known European platform focused on reducing emissions associated with the global supply chain. This is an international initiative, whose work is to guide and help companies reduce their greenhouse gas emissions derived from logistics activities. All of this, with the aim of achieving the goals defined at the Climate Summit for the year 2050.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Side Logistics is part of this network of companies committed to the environment. Being part of this platform is key to setting real objectives and executing them. In 2021, it already received the Lean &amp; Green award for its sustainable action plan and achieving the marked emission reductions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ultimately, it is possible to change our future if we act in the present with proposals for action.
